FUPRE Postpones Resumption Date 2017/2018















This is to inform all Staff and Students of Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE) that the resumption date for the 2017/2018 academic session has been postponed.

The resumption date earlier scheduled for Sunday, 12th November, 2017 has been postponed till further notice.

A new resumption date for both returning and fresh students shall be announced in due course.

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, has suspended its nationwide strike, 15 days after the industrial action began. This was confirmed by the chairman of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic chapter of the union, Kola Abiola, on Wednesday night. JAMB Suspends Sales Of 2018 UTME Registration Forms The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has disclosed that it has suspended the sales of the 2018 JAMB application forms which was to begin on Wednesday November 22nd, 2017. This was made known by JAMB's spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin. According to him, the postponement was necessitated by the delay in meeting the agreed deadline by the publisher of the compulsory reading text meant for prospective candidates for the 2018 UTME which was supposed to be delivered on or before November 7th, 2017. “As at close of work today, the publisher had not provided the 1.8 million copies required and this development painfully forced to the Board to shift the date from Wednesday 22nd November, 2017 to a date to be announced soon. ”JAMB said it regrets all inconvenience occasioned by this postponement as it is working round the clock to announce a new date soon”, the statement said. ASUP Indefinite Strike May Be Called Off Next Week

There are indications that the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, may call off its 10-day old strike next week. The Union has been able to meet with the Minister of Education and from what transpired in the meeting, it was a fruitful discussion. At the moment , process is ongoing for the Memorandum of Understanding to be signed. The union leader will be meeting next week to deliberate on the negotiations with the Federal Government so far and hopefully bring the strike to an end. Recall that ASUP commenced nationwide indefinite strike on November 13 due to the federal government’s failure to fulfill the outstanding agreement made with it.
